Just another thought I had as I was playing songs cause i'm "insane in the membrane". On YouTube, you can "subscribe" to people and can therefore automatically be notified when they have a new video up on the site. Thought: Have this option for the Website and/or for the new database that nwru is designing. If you're going to make it so that you can rate each song after you play it, you should also be able to "subscribe" to a user and maybe even make it so that you can just see that user's frets if you enjoy things from that particular person.

-Years of coding, people banging their heads on desks, cussing at the computer screen because you accidently hit the delete key on your keyboard and now all of your work is done...

This idea has been floating around for an extremely long time.

I think the easiest way to implement such a thing would be to subscribe to a user. Then when that user created a new thread in Tune Posting or edited the first post for a thread in Tune Posting, it could send the subscriber a notice.

The problem with that feature is that it emails whenever anyone post in that thread. I think he was thinking more charter speciffic. So in Nwru's Super DB thingamabob. All he would have to do is subscribe to that author. Every time they uploaded a new song and it gets registered into the Song DB, the subscriber is notified. Much the same how youtube works. I support this idea, it has been one of the better ideas to come out of the "Thoughts" in a looooong time.

No, it wouldn't. You completely missed the idea. My suggestion would only message you if the person you subscribed to created a new thread in Tune Posting or edited the first post in such a thread (how people commonly add new charts to their song thread). The method you are suggesting would either require people to trigger a process to indicate when they are posting a new chart (ie. a person adding content to a song wiki page) or would require the forum to reliably notice new charts automatically. That's going to be more difficult than what I proposed.
